I would like to post my personal thanks to every single person who has been here, on the ground, protecting lives and property in our area. Words are not enough to express the gratitude we feel towards those people who have put their own lives at risk for the safety and protection of others. Those who have forgone the protection of their own property to protect ours. Your gift and sacrifice is something I hope this town never forgets! We don’t know you all, we don’t know your names, but we are forever grateful that you are prepared to do that for us.
I would especially mention those local people – and I won’t name names because I have not been given permission to do so – who have worked throughout this horrible time – some without pay and without recognition – to save, protect and keep safe, those of us who live here and cannot do so for ourselves. Your service and dedication to our town is above and beyond, and I wish that each and every one of you could know that we appreciate, know and respect what you have done for us!
Although I don’t have permission to mention them, I hope that Danielle and Frank Milito – at the Caltex Service Station in Lakes Entrance, know that they are so much appreciated for the service they give to us as residents and to the town in general. I know there are many things they have both done, unnoticed and without fanfare, that has meant so much to those who have benefited from their generosity. They have given and then given again, with no expectation of reward or recognition. I know that some hurtful things have been said recently on local social media, but it is my hope that they both know that their efforts and dedication to helping and to be there for our town, are appreciated by the greater majority of the town.
To the “keyboard warriors” who make uninformed, stupid comment from behind the safety of their keyboards – you need to check FACTS before you make a comment! Your ill informed comments say more about you than anyone else, and are hurtful and damaging to people who love and support this town in ways that you do not even know about!
To Danielle and Frank – thank you! We will continue to support you.
