Update Sunday Evening

As noted earlier, we decided to come home today with light rain falling as we left Lakes Entrance. The temperature has dropped dramatically and the wind has also dropped right off, so we, here in Lakes Entrance are safe for the moment. They are warning us to stay vigilant with active fires still in the area. We have returned home, but we are staying packed and ready to flee again if it becomes necessary. With each evacuation we undertake, we refine our plans. We are very grateful for the shelter we found at Echo Beach Tourist Park courtesy of Cherie and Leigh the park owners. Their generosity, and open arms were a very welcome sight in our day! They have assured us we can find refuge with them again should that become necessary.

We are seeing lots of aircraft going over us – Military helicopters – huge and noisy, smaller helicopters, all doing their bit to help. We are very grateful for the assistance and the resources that the Prime Minister has organised and sent here to help us. I think the political “posturing” that has followed Mr Morrison’s efforts has been totally childish. We want a leader who steps up, and makes some decisive and positive decisions to bring aid to those most in need, this is what he has done. Leave politics out of it, and band together to take care of people who need your help!

We don’t need politics, we need help!

I’m tired, going to rest and will add more tomorrow. Goodnight my friends and family – love you all ❤

  1. Hi Wendy, I just typed a message to you but I don’t think that I sent it to you and I have now lost it! Briefly, I was saying how sorry I am to hear that you have been affected by the bush fires and to send my best wishes that you are not impacted by them again! I found you on FB again and sent you a message before I noticed that you were taking a break from FB. Would love to keep up with you so I am hoping that this message reaches you! I hope that you and your family are all well! Teena xx

Welcome to my blog. I live, knit and craft near the Northumbrian Coast (but not too near - the waves won't be splashing my knitting!).There's a story in every stitch, every grain of sand, every blade of grass. I thought I'd blog about it...
